Tsunami
Wave Riders
Artist:
Tropical Soul
From: Charlotte, NC
The Tsunami Wave Riders were formed in 2006
by lead singer and keyboardist Ronnie
Tsunami, and steel drummers Joanna
and Keilani.
Greg
‘The Tiki Man’ Torzillo, a popular rock guitarist and
Hawaiian lap-steel guitar player from Maui, later
joined the Tsunami Wave Riders to complete the tropical group.
Having been described as “Jimmy Buffett with
a Hawaiian twist,” the troupe plays a collection of original tunes that
mix country, rock and reggae rhythms. Traditional island
instruments (the Hawaiian lap-steel guitar and Caribbean steel
drums) instantly put listeners on their favorite beach.
Influenced by artists such as Jimmy Buffett, the
Ka'au Crater Boys, Bob Marley, Santana, UB40, Kenny Chesney,
Sublime and 311, the Tsunami Wave Riders have created their own
island flavor that is quickly gaining fans all over the world from
the US to Germany to Japan.
Fans of the Tsunami Wave Riders are known as
"TurtleNecks", and have made the Tsunami Wave Riders and their original song,
Island Dreamin', a popular request on Aloha Joe Radio, the largest Hawaiian entertainment station in the world.
In addition to Island Dreamin', other songs have been played as well, including "Under the Coconut Trees, "
Tropical Lady, and Hawaiian War Chant.
