I Think I Shoulda Left You Home
A few years ago Ron Bertrand, aka, "Gumbo
Ron" moved to Belize and lived on the island of Caye Caulker.
While there, on rainy days, he would drink Belikin beer (the only
beer brewed in Belize) and write songs about his Belizean
adventures from a tourist perspective.
Thus came the likes of "I'm Down Here
Drinking Belikin Beer" and several other fun "sing along
to" songs in which Gumbo Ron admits were all written in
"under a six-pack".
 When Gumbo Ron returned to the States he started
GumboLimbo (named after the tropical tourist tree). Presently
sixteen GumboLimbo songs are included on their CD, What We
Belize In. According to some, this CD has become a "must
have" for anyone who's been to Belize and made it back alive!.
Regarding his CD, What We Belize In, he
stated, "When I left my home in Illinois it was 14 degrees. There was about two feet of snow on the ground and my car had a half inch of ice covering it. After finally getting into my car I somehow made it to the airport and took a TACA airliner into Belize City. When I landed everything was different. Very different."
