Loren
Davidson - "Escape Artist"
Artist:
Loren Davidson
From: San Francisco,
CA
Loren Davidson's music is best described as "escape art" - music with tropical attitude - Jimmy Buffett meets John Prine, Celtic meets Caribbean by way of Key West. His lyrics range from humorous to incisive, articulate yet heartfelt. His "escape art" helps audiences escape to their own "paradise state of mind."
Loren's second and current album, Tropical
Troubadour, was released in January 2005 by Renaissance Island Music. Produced by Grammy nominee Roberta Donnay, this CD features such talented musicians as Robin Ruddy
on acoustic guitar, mandolin, and banjo, Kent Wells on lead guitar, Barry Walsh on keyboards, and Jeff Cox
on bass. Loren's first album, Songs From My Heart, was released in 2002.
Loren's musical influences range from the classical and calypso music played at home during his youth and adolescence to folksingers such as Pete Seeger, James Taylor, and the Guthries, to popular musicians of the late 60s to mid 70s such as Jim Morrison and Keith Emerson. In recent years such performers as Jimmy Buffett, John Prine, Bob Marley, and Lord Buckley have added their own influences.
Loren has appeared at numerous northern California venues including the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley, Espresso Garden in San Jose, the San Mateo County Fair, Palo Alto Festival of the Arts, and songwriter showcases in San Francisco and Sacramento. He has also performed in Los Angeles, Nashville, Las Vegas, and Key West.
Loren currently lives, works, and plays in the San Francisco Bay Area.
"The CD is poignant and tender. Loren's voice is strong and his lyrics are beautiful!
